Why the Home-Cooked Meals?
Because the Den's dogs deserve real food, too.
From the very beginning, preparing healthy, home-cooked meals for Luna and our pack was part of my vision for Luna’s Doggie Den rooted in the belief that our dogs deserve the same care and nourishment we give our families.
The idea really took shape when Luna was spayed. During her recovery, she was given the standard bland vet-prescribed food which she tolerated at first, but quickly lost interest in as her appetite returned. That’s when I started cooking her a fresh alternative at home, based on the same nutritious principles I use to feed my family: wholesome, vegetable-rich meals made with real ingredients, no additives, and lots of flavour.
Luna loved it and so Doggie Bolognaise was born.
Our Doggie Bolognaise starts with a blend of vegetables and lentils, whizzed into a thick, nutritious base in my trusty soup-maker. This sauce is the hidden hero in many of our family meals and now Luna’s too. It’s packed with goodness, adds natural thickness to meals, and thanks to herbs, spices (and a little creativity), it tastes delicious while sneaking in extra nutrients. Even my fussy eating son laps it up in curries and bolognaise.
I’m not launching a pet food brand just offering a small slow-cooked batch, for dogs in my care. Meals are prepared with fresh and frozen meat, vegetables: fresh, frozen and (tinned) tomatoes, and dried grains and pulses, all high-quality, human-grade food purchased in our local weekly shop. If I wouldn’t serve it to my family, I won’t serve it to the pack.
Because our pack deserves real food, too.
